So very sorry to hear of your sad news Caveman. At least Minnie is out of pain now, and you can be very proud of the fact that you have done your very best for her. It's fifteen years almost to the day since I lost my black labrador Sam, also to cancer, so I know exactly how you feel.

Oh Caveman - my deepest condolences! I know what you are going through. Losing a pet is like losing a member of your family! My heart sure goes out to you : (
Remember the love, even if through tears for a while. It gets easier with time. Be good to yourselves, while you are going through this difficult period, especially.
Thanks for sharing Minnie's picture - she's adorable. You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers. Don't worry - everything will be okay.

Thank you all. Too choked up to even read most of these. Luv you baby stay strong.
Our little girl is now at Rainbow Bridge waiting.
Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable. All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.
They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.
You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.
Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

Oh, I am sitting here with tears in my eyes. I am sorry for your loss. I know how much it hurts to lose a pet that is actually family. Our Sugar was our baby girl for 13 yrs. And I still miss her all the time. She is actually buried close to my Daddy here at home. I know it is so hard to see their things, toys, beds and everything. Just support each other in this rough time. I thank God every time I pray for giving us Sugar for 13 yrs because she was a joy, as I know Minnie was to your family. My thoughts, and prayers are sent out to you all.

Minnie was an INSIDE Dog, She actually hated the cold the rain she wanted her comfort. So the Only logical thing for us to do with her was to Cremate her. She will always be inside and here with us forever. We ordered her an Urn that we could place a photo in. I don't know if that is a good thing or bad yet. She hasn't been braught home for good yet from processing. But this week for sure. THEN here will come the tears again I am sure. But I for one believe she will be happy we did NOT Put her out in the Cold for Eternity. I lost my little Guss three years ago and I buried him right outside my front door where he loved to watch the Cars go up and down the road. Which actually was his Downfall. And I still today Cry when I walk by his Resting place. But I couldn't No Way No How Put Little Minnie Outside when she Loved being next to her Daddy ALL The Time..

Cavewoman, I so agree with what you did. My Daddy, hated being cold or damp and if we had the resources we would have had him a tomb. But, our resources were limited, so we did the one thing he asked for and buried him at home. He is next to the barn and so is our "Sugar" like I said before she was our baby girl for 13 yrs. She was an Eskimo Spitz. But it has really been a blessing to us all to have Daddy here at home. I can go to his grave anytime I choose. Sometimes, it is 3 am but I can go whenever I feel like it. And the same with Sug. We can keep their graves up and well taken care of. I hope that having Minnie there in the house is a comfort. I truly think it will be. Because just the thought of her not being out in the rain and etc. will help. Again, my thoughts, and prayers go out to you all!

Our Baby Girl Came back home to us as Cavey stated above. She has a New Spot that she can watch over all of us as well as we can be with her Always. Here's her Walnut Urn with her Picture. Our Tater Bug accepts it now. she asks us everyday to take her down so that she can Kiss Her Hello and Goodbye when she leaves our House. Its very touching. But very emotional for us still. But with time, like everything else in life, it'll get better. Here's the Pictures:
