My, I tell you what....We moved to the county school district this summer, and I figured they would start around about the same time as the city district. WRONG! I called yesterday morning to ask when registration was, so I could go register my daughter for 1st grade. The lady shocked me by letting me know I had best get there before 2:30 because it was the last day for that, tomorrow would be meetings for them all day so they're closed and that school starts WEDNESDAY!! WHEW! So now, I have her school supply list, we have to go tonight to get all that crap (We never had to get this much stuff when I Was in school)....plus we have to go and get her glasses made tonight. Tonight is going to be way full! Glasses, school supplies, dinner, baths, bed....Wow. And to top it off, they couldn't tell me when her bus would be here, so I gotta sit out and wait at 6AM till it comes, just in case 'cause I don't wanna miss it!
I never thought school 'round here would start so phreakin' soon! My son starts next week too, and I hate to say it, but I can't wait for a little peace. Don't get me wrong, I love my babies being around, but I would like to just go out and sit next to my garden with no disturbances. That's my way of relaxation, to either play in the dirt or just sit by the garden and bee watch or gaze at my accomplishments. The bad part is, school starting means that cold weather is coming soon. ACK!!
Who all is ready for school to start?

O man your school starts early! Kids around here don't start school until Sept 7th! Of course with homeschooling..... you never really take a break form getting a chance to do alittle schoolin'. Maria is too young for schooling, but already I find myself teaching her things, and already looking for homeschooling items to use in the future. Can you tell I'm excited about homeschooling again!!! Edit cuz I can't type! or spell!

I have to start back to work tomorrow. This is the earliest I have ever had to start back. School will start here on the 14th, all teachers have to start back on the 7th. The weather is so HOT, will look forward to having a little cool place again. My cleaning room is next to the computer room, so it stays nice and cool . This year is just going so fast to me.

Most schools in the metro Atlanta area will be starting August 7th. Here in my county it starts the 17th I think. Lucky me I dont have to play by their rules! We are going this weekend to browse material for homeschooling at Barnes and Noble. We will probably start like in the old days when I was a kid, in September! I dont like the starting in August! August is for swimming...a lot! Cause it HOT! So, I guess this mom never gets a break from her kid...oh well...sacrafice sacrafice!

No, I am not a teacher, I am a retired nurse. I have to help my kids with house payments so I just clean at the school. They are so good to me, I even set my own hours, no pressure whatever. They closed our nursing home here years ago, I did home health awhile, but I just hate to drive and drive, and with gas prices like they are, I am happy I live and work in town.

I get tired of the driving, but gotta do whatcha gotta do. Will be getting her packed tonight. Man this year is flying by, or is that a sign of getting older........never mind I don't want to know, lol. trudy

Thanks J'nette. I hafta say, yes she is!! She called last night and she said everything is going well so far. They are only a couple of days into the school year though. She said there are a couple of boys in the class that she sees as potential trouble makers~not of the serious sort though, just a bit mischievious I guess. But she's thrilled anyway!

This is her first year with a classroom of 4th graders. The last couple years she had two seperate Elem schools Grades K-5 (simultaneously, over 900 students in all) where she taught computer technology. She is really nervous about being the homeroom teacher!
