Not sure if anyone knows about dis the past few years I replaced the bottom two motor mounts on my van and they keep going out. they have two small slits on the top and bottom where they were made as far as the rubber is concerned. I tried using some liquid nail to fill them but it's not strong enough because of the power of the motor. Does anyone know of a strong glue that would withstand this kind of strength thats needed Heres what one looks like with the slit on the top and bottom, they just don't make them the way they use to

why do ya want to glue em' bro? would take a powerful adhesive to do the job, I'll ask around!

There must be some other problem thats causing these mounts to keep goin bad. Ya can always try Gorilla Glue.

Ummm X, I think he was talking about the rubber part Bro. Doug I'd watch what I used. Most glues are flammable. There must be something else thats wrong to be going through motor mounts like that. Has the van been in a wreck? if the frame wasn't straight then the wear would be considerably greater.

I would also check the universals and drive shaft as that can cause a vibration that will cause all sortsa things to break.

I thought about that, I replaced the iner and outer tie rod on the driver side yesterday because of a clunking sound on these Michigan roads I still need to check the ball joints in time. The trans shifts fine without any problems so it couldn't be that.

One way to see if everything is kosher is to have someone hold the brake and shift the tranny through the gears at idle while you watch the engine movement from the side, not the front, of the van. You will be able to tell excessive movement. Would also be handy to know what kind of van and the year. My Caravans have one lower, one upper and one tranny mt.

The motor moves when shes put in gear, I been driving carfuly because of this, I'll keep checking around on this

The old hotrodders used a short length of chain to limit movement when the engine was at high torque. The mounts would act like a vibration dampner until one dropped the hammer then the chain would act more like a solid mount. My Chev. Lumina car had the same mount troubles cept it would knock out head gaskets cause there were torque rods going from the rad. support to the front head.

I have seen logging chains used to stop the motor mounts from being broken.

Maybe I can find something at LOWE'S or Home Depot that would be strong enough
