And her name is Ballzy. See the change here? Phil, and gang, it's the squirrel who is so tamed, is umm, ummm, I'm dead. . I was outside, folding up the dirty foil from the last BBQ, and she came up within inches of me. I was taking off the crud from the grill and there she was. So, I went into the crisper in me fridge and put on the ground, bird seed. And peanuts. This one, is the tamest I've ever seen and the others, will run away. I'm looking at this bird feeder, that looks like a house. Wonder if that will work? .. Emily

they are really cute but rodents none the less, they used to chew through the wires in the corn crib, but now with the herd of cats, we are the same as you laura, one brave on every now and then

No worries about this. She's more afraid of me, than I of her. I would never try and pet her. I just let her do her thing and that is it.

They are pretty to watch. I used to have ducks and dogs and everything in the yard and if they left any food, a racoon would come up just as brave and eat the rest of the food. The ducks were loose and would be wigging out, and the dogs were crazy any way, but they all ignored the coon and he them. I thought this was facinating till one nite he was eating practically at my feet and I saw these FANGS in his mouth.!! I eased out of the chair and onto the porch. I watch from a distance now. They are very pretty too.

When I was about 12 we had a baby squirrel come down out of a tree while standing near my tire swing. The mother was scolding the youngster the whole time. He came down and came up to me, climbed my pants and hung by my shirt! Then he jumped onto the tree and took off back up the tree. I knew that young squirrel, he had a notch out of his tail. A couple of months later, it happened in the same manner, so we began buying whole peanuts in the shell. I want you to know, I could call that squirrel out of the trees to come get his treats. He would jump onto my shoulder and take the peanuts right out of my hand. I never ever tried to pet or hold him though. The restrictiveness of that might have set him off to bite, I was always very careful to do things on his terms. That squirrel and I had a routine for about 2 years. The local butts (boys) caught wind of this squirrel and I think they shot it, mean old butts. I have no proof, but I know they did out of meanness. I have a picture somewhere from way back of that squirrel on my shoulder...Cool animal. Course that was in a neighborhood and when we moved up here around Atlanta I was told that was no big deal, that the squirrels in Atlanta did that all the time, took food from peoples hands. But, it was a big deal to me. This squirrel had not been conditioned like those. Have fun with your new found friend.
