I was almost finished making up a brochure when a window popped up saying I needed to free up some disk space, it was full. So deleted a lot of favorites and did a disk cleanup. I really don't know what else to do here. Its still saying its full. Thanks, trudy

Go to the archive section and look for Stolen from the geek files. It will explain how to free up disk space.

I was in Microsoft Works when the window came up, XDX called me last night and we did some things. We've got it narrowed down to a pic I was inserting online that caused the problem. It had gotten late last night so I'm gonna try it again this afternoon after work an see what happens. I have already did the delete cookies, temp files, disk cleanup, and a hard shut down. All this did help, got the system resources up from 52% to 68% as well. I did read the post in the archives, but ..................trudy

OK, my turn!! I have followed the Geek directions and still have only 12% of free space. Do I need to start copying my digi pix to CDs and delete them to free up more space? Or would I be better off to purschase another hard drive and have my SIL install it as a slave?

I have a very small drive, 10Gig. I still have 42% free space! And I have SKADS of files, pictures, graphics for the phorum, music, etc. Dap, have you done the suggestions above? Do you have a newer version of windows? If you bring up the disk cleanup window, there is another tab {more options} at the botom it says system restore. This is where your system stores re-store files. You can remove all but the most recent,, this will knock alot of files, and free up 15-20% It leaves you with the last system checkpoint, to restore, should the need arise.

I have gone into Add/Remove and removed any programs I don't use, ran Spy-Bot, ran AntiVirus, Disk Cleanup, and Defrag. I have to tell it to go ahead and Defrag, 'cuz it says it needs 15% space but I only had12% last night. I just checked it again and it is down to 11% again this AM. I have not added any programs or pictures. Just surfed a little bit last night. I am not seeing the option you mentioned on your above post...
My puter is about 4 years old and has almost 28GB. I don't understand why I have no space left!!! It has Windows XP. Do I need to do the Disk Cleanup on my son and hubby's identities individually?

Start>All programs>accessories>system tools>disk clean up should have a tab there that says "more options" then at the bottom of the more options window, system restore, this removes all but the last restore files.
if you have XP, and don't have this, something is wrong, is your account on there set to admin.?

Try this.... Disk Error Checking Double-click My Computer, and then right-click the hard disk drive that you want to check. Click Properties, and then click Tools. Under Error-checking, click Check Now. Click Start.

Yes, I am an admin on XP. And yes, I have completed all the tasks listed. And yes, I am STILL at 11% free space. I am seriously contemplating a total dump and start over...

I know I am alittle late at helping you out here, but to answer your question above if you have to do the same Clean up Disk and so on to the other profiles... The Anser is YES...!!!!!!! You must do the Disk Cleanup on each profile. also the Spyware programs on each... I didn't think you had to either but a few years Back Cavey's sister-who is a Computer Specialist told me YES you have to so everything on all the Profiles except for the Defrag. that does ALL the Profiles and the Whole Computer..
Also Try Changing your Virtual Memory. That will probably help.. Because it sounds like your Virtual memory is close to being ful..
Also Point to your Local Hard Drive C or what ever letter is your hard drive and right Click on it and click on Properties. A box should come up. Under the general tab you will see actually how much space you have in a Pie shape. below that there is a box that says "Compress Drive to save disk space" Check that Box and then his apply. see if that helps..
Also go to the Quota tab. see if the box is checked for Enable Quota Management. if it is Uncheck it and make sure the quota limits are disabled. below the enable quota management there should be default quota limits. make sure Do Not Limit Disk Quota is checked. that will help a bunch..
Let me know what happens..
