Today, July 6th in 2003 we lost Buddy Ebsen. His given name was Christian Rudolph Ebsen, Jr., and he left behind millions of fans. I watched The Beverly Hillbillies since as far back as I can remember & I always loved Jed. I always wanted a grandpa just like him. He was a talented actor, dancer, and just an all around entertaining man. I just wanted to pay my respects to a man who brought me many, many years of joy as he came into my livingroom each week on my little screen. You'll always be remembered Buddy.

I always loved him and the show. Do you have an idea how old he was?

I did know he played that part, but did not know he got sick.
Was he sick from an illness when passed or just old age?

I believe just old age...his death is listed as undisclosed, but it says he went peacefully while in the hospital surrounded by his wife & children.
That's really cool that he was cast as the tin man, I hadn't known that. Here's another bit of Buddy trivia...did you know that he was an accomplished singer, poet, and painter?
