I was reading about the seed swaps here and was wondering if anyone here could help me out. I have become more aware of the genetically altered seeds and dont want them. Does anyone know the seed companies that use them so I dont order from them? My mom has given me some bean seeds she has been saving seeds from for as long as I can remember so I hope to plant them this year and hopefully keep the deer away from them. The beans are the only ones I have tho that I know of that arent genetically altered. Can anyone give me some advice....Thanks in advance!

FEDCO does NOT sell GMO seeds. In their latest catalogue, they listed what seed companies have been taken over and are dropping their products from their listings. This website lists North American supplies of NON GMO seeds: www.greenpeople.org/seeds.htm

Cs, until I get to my files, I can , with great confidence add this link, Jere Gettle, the seedsman and owner of this company, is at the forefront in the fight against GMO products of all types. This company is also from Missouri Bakers Heirloom Seeds

I'm confused. I was just told in another forum that GMOs aren't sold because they are too expensive to make. So, is that true or not? And if it's true, then any seed packet, organic or not, should contain non-GMO seeds, right? If anyone knows, please help me out on this. Thanks so much.

I just revisited that post in Baker Creek's forum, and in fact, GMO seeds aren't being packaged for consumers. So, even though I prefer organic, it's still safe to buy seeds in all those pretty packages, no matter who they come from. So, no need to throw out last year's seeds, or the year's before, or before that.

In my opinion any seed that is not an heirlom or OP is a GMO. But that is just my opinion.

Hi Crazy - Took me awhile to get back here. I agree with you...if it's not an heirloom, who wants it? However, as much as it pains me to say, hybrid is not the same as GMO's and GMO's aren't being sold in the pretty consumer seed packets, so, it's not a worry, yet. I cringe at the thought of hybrids; can't imagine why anyone would grow one. But the whole GMO thing is just plain disgusting.

I have a wild question. It is a fact that farmers have fed their cows feed that has cow blood and offal in it. Hence mad cow.
There are using human genes in some plants to promote I can't remember what. The point is what will it do to us when we become cannibals???
