Hello! I'm growing the following "competition" pumpkin plants:
945.5 Sherwood- pumpkin hit day 10 today. It's taken off quickly, with a circumference of 36". By far my largest plant. The pumpkin is long and oval. it was set at 12' out on the mainvine. I have 2 or 3 more pumpkins set further down the main, in case something happens to the first.
The next three plants I'm not expecting a lot out of. They are in another garden(only about 100' from the other garden) and get less sun. The soil is also heavier. For some reason these plants aren't putting out many secondaries. I'm thinking it's a soil/location issue.
901 Hebb- I have a pumpkin on at day 7. It's got a nice shape so far. I think it was set a 9.5' out on the mainvine. The plant is quite small.
Connolly cross(953 Langevin X 1260 Weir)- is a seed from the same pumpkin that produced my 615 lber. last year. My second best looking plant. I have a pumpkin hopefully set at 15.5' on the mainvine. I accidentally broke the mainvine yesterday, so this is my last hope for a mainviner on this plant.
1029 Golat- The mainvine went doublevine, so I trained a secondary as the main. No pumpkins set yet.

I was just wondering where in MN you were cuz I want to grow gient pumpkins, But I live in Northren MN. and I'm thinking we don't have a long enough growing season. But I'm going to try next year to grow them. Once you learn how to post pics, it's not hard to learn. If you have a great teacher like Phil! you can go to Photobucket .com to download your pics You can use Phils account he set up or make your own account. Once you get your photos uploaded in your account, then you'll see 3 lines , don't know what they are called, but you 'll see: URL TAG IMG You highlight the bottem----> IMG then left click your mouse , click on COPY Then got to your post in Phamer Phil's and left click your mouse then click on PASTE. And then you should see your photo when you click on POST REPLY. That's it! If you have problems ASK Phil!

Doug...where you weighing at this season? The Stillwater Mn. weighoff is on Oct. 8th, I know I could use some extra time...Also, The Austin folks ain't gotten me the letter out, don't really matter, I don't think mine will be much by the third week in August.

Phil, I'm not sure where I'll go yet. I'm pretty much have all my eggs in one basket, as the Sherwood fruit is the only one I have going, that has good potential to get big. I was thinking either Stillwater, or the one in Nekosa(sp?), WI. I won't rule out Austin though.

Just wondering where in Stillwater they weigh them. Downtown by the St Croix River, or up on the hill.

Here's a picture of my pumpkin on the 945.5 Sherwood, at 20 days old. It was taken two days ago.It was estimated at 124 lbs. according to the 2005 Stellpfug/Martin table using OTT measurements. I'll use tablethis for the estimates, for the rest of the year.
