OK,on left, from front is parsley, then Brussels sprouts, and an artichoke you cant see, right is kale, carrot and lots of strawberry runners, all overwintered, very cool. This is where the aquaponic hoophouse will be built,it will be 10x12 feet. This is the Mantis composter, just got it for 80 dollars on Craigslist Chickens and ducks.Have Limes.lemon, grapefruit, oranges and tangerines,7 total. They each have 3-4 15 watt old style Christmas bulb. When frost or snow they get covered with a trashcan and at 34f lights heat em,at 36 lights turn off. They all survived frost and snow this year. Here we have yellow hyacinth in a bed of oregano,a pink dwarf peach, rest of bulbs havent bloomed yet.All trees are dwarf. On the left in pink is a peach, the 3 above with white blossoms are assorted pears, above them are 6 different apples.Back fence has 2 thornless berries, top and bottom fence on left has 2 pomegranates that survived winter, very cool!~ Also have other berries, spices and grapes that didnt make pics, not bad for such a small yard.

OK,this is composter loaded with a lot of pine needles, straw and bird poop 1 month ago, very full. Also colors are horrible, dont know why. Last 2 pictures I took today First fill 1 month later, about 1/3rd less mass.In reality this stuff is black in color.Set in some pots to sprout cuke seeds, they didnt take outside, take em out when I rotate 2-3 turns a day.ALL veggie scraps going in. Just warm, not getting hot yet.Check out the worms!

Very nice setup Spuds. Very well organized with lots of tasty vegetables. That's they way a garden should be done. You should be proud of your garden and your organization of everything. WELL DONE!!

I'm glad you found the humor in that. Spuds has given you a good site to go to and also there is information on the Johnnies seed site as well. Asparagus will not produce the first season, but the next season it will produce spears that you can harvest. The root section that you get should be planted in a hole that is not completely filled to the top of the root section and as it shows growth you can start bringing it up to grade.

I'm not wasting time going to that website. When I get home from GA I'm going to dig a hole and wait on step 2.

I'm not wasting time going to that website. When I get home from GA I'm going to dig a hole and wait on step 2. Are you feeling OK dear I explained it on the next post that I wrote. I was just making a joke in the first post. Sorry!! But here it goes again. Dig your hole set the root stock in it and then cover the stock enough to bury the root system, when you start seeing some new growth emerge to 6" or more then you can continue covering it leaving half of the plant exposed until you reach the top of the hole you dug. Sorry Spuds I didn't want to jump on you post, guess my humor wasn't appreciated.

spuds, did I miss it or do you also put vege peelings and egg shells in your compost. I see where you mention straw, pine needles, and bird poop.

Mrs has one of those chopped off celery ends growing in garden. That one died, kept getting molested and dug up,so tried another.
This time grew 3 inch or so roots on it,dug a hole.Filled with 30% composted material, then 75% composted layer and topped with a slimy veggie pulp 25% composted glob,on that I spread the roots and lightly covered them with dirt. Since Ive had seeds sprout in the composter figure this will be a nutrient rich medium that will stay nice and moist and just hug those roots into nirvana.
Then in same area dug more holes about shovel sized and filled with completed compost and planted some cukes and snap peas, they look real happy. They will be trained up the fence.
