Thursday I brought home small box of meat loaf. $1.99 for the box and you fill to take home, Buffet, You buy a meal to do that. I decided on meat loaf, I am sure got a pound or more as really packed it in and piled so lid was packed full too. I plan to make chili and add to beans. I put box in to zip bag and put in freezer till ready to use.
I put like a 15# turkey in freezer at 73 a pound.

We have a small turkey frozen.. It's been in there...well..since B4 the bird flu out break here (Minnesota farmers lost more than 9 million chickens and turkeys to avian flu.)so..seeing how it's probably the safest turkey we can get here..unless we pay 7-9 bux a pound for a heritage... does anyone know if our frozen bird will still be good to eat??

If at zero F its safe forever, only quality such as freezer burn may be an issue.Only thing Ive thrown out is freezer burned products.Im still alive. cooking.stackexchange.com/questions/13953/how-long-does-uncooked-meat-last-when-kept-in-the-freezer

Frozen hash browns are good. Youngest DIL here freezes them raw and my older son boiled and then freezes. I know they freeze mashed potatoes on TV dinners.

When you say "flash" freeze what do you mean? Do you have a special setting? My hubby loves hash browns so making and freezing sounds good. Just make a layer on a non stick cookie pan or on parchment paper in a tray as thick as you make hashbrowns, then stick pan in cold freezer. In a couple hours its solid, take them off pan and put into freezer bags and store it that way in freezer. You cook them while still frozen. Mrs says not as good as fresh,I think they are darn good myself. I think we paid about 8 dollars for the 55 lbs,and they are the big ones.Hard to beat that price. OK,the full story. Cut them up,rinse until clear in the salad spinner basket or whatever (colander?) with COLD water, than parboil ONE MINUTE in a boiling pan of water with a hint of salt if you want that...then back into colander thats then dipped into pan of ice water with a little vitamin C or lemon juice for keeping color, then spin mostly dry in a salad spinner, then into tray and into freezer.Sheesh, more than I thought involved in this. Modify that to what kitchen gadgets you have. I will do pictures next batch. 2706

will make a favorite for Us tonight, quick and easy...I have a pizza dough recipe that we use that is about the best I have ever had...don't have it handy...but I do have the pizza recipe here:("borrowed" from Internet because I'm too lazy to use scanner) Garlicky Kale and Bacon Pizza Yield: 1 (12-inch) pizza Prep Time: 20 min Cook Time: 15 min Ingredients: 1 pound store-bought or homemade pizza dough Cornmeal, for dusting baking sheet 4 slices thick-cut bacon, cut into 1/4-inch pieces 2 1/2 cups curly kale leaves, torn into 1-inch pieces 2 teaspoons olive oil 2 cloves garlic, minced 6 ounces mozzarella, thinly sliced 1/3 cup thinly sliced red onions Shredded Parmesan cheese, for garnish Directions: Preheat the oven to 500ºF. Roll out the pizza dough on a lightly floured surface until it is roughly 12 inches wide and 1/4-inch thick. Cook the diced bacon in a medium sauté pan set over medium-low heat until a majority of the fat has rendered. Remove the bacon pieces with a slotted spoon to a large bowl, along with 2 teaspoons of the bacon drippings. Add the kale, olive oil and garlic to the bowl, tossing to combine. Arrange the mozzarella slices in a single layer on the pizza dough, leaving a 1/2-inch border around the edges. Evenly scatter the kale-bacon mixture on top of the cheese then top the kale with the sliced red onions. Brush the border of the pizza dough with the reserved bacon drippings.Yummy!! Bake the pizza for 10 to 12 minutes, rotating it half-way through, until the crust is fully baked and golden brown. Remove the pizza from the oven to a cutting board, sprinkle it with Parmesan cheese, and slice and serve. The pizza dough can be rolled into any desired shape, including round, rectangular or free-form, for a more rustic look. You can use a pizza stone in place of the inverted baking sheet. Oven temperatures and positions may vary, so make sure you are baking your pizza on the middle rack and check it frequently. The kale leaves must be well coated in the bacon drippings and olive oil or they will burn before the dough is fully baked. And it may seem like a large amount of kale, but pile it high atop the dough, as it'll cook down significantly once baked

I put on kettle of soup. Started with a qt if beef broth. Add rice and barley and other stuff. Little this that. Will see. Had to add water as getting too thick. I put in a couple T spoons of dried veggies.
There were times I had refried bean sandwiches for supper. Warm and filling.
I tasted the soup and seems to be done. If thickens more will add more water.

Mrs would like the dough and pizza 2706 recipe when you have time.... will do Mrs. Spuds I'm just here quick to check in and the weather before we head to the winter market..the recipe I posted in this thread..the only variations in that is we shredded the mozzarella cheese instead of rounds of fresh, and we used a plain old pizza pan...no inverted sheet as it said in the recipe..let me look quick to see if I have the dough recipe in my recipe file on this computer 2706 no I do not...later or in the morning I will try to wrestle that ornery scanner thingy
