Hope everyone who had bad weather this weekend is safe with no damage. We had warnings and a black sky--emptied out our spare closet (no basements in this area, too close to the coast) in case we needed to take cover but thankfully not needed. No injuries in our part of GA, just a few wind blown mater plants. Hope all the phorum phamily was as lucky as we were.

we were lucky here in Crawford County, but 20 miles east the city of Macon got hammered hard by a tornado. All we had were unbelievable winds, lightning and extremely torrential rain. Hope all our phorum phamily members are ok - you are all in our prayers!

I hadn't heard about this but I hope everyone is ok. It must be terrible to have to take shelter in the basement - or closet - during violent storms.

I was just looking at Google news when I came across the reports of severe storms in Minnesota and Iowa so I hope everyone over there is ok.
We've had some windy conditions to cope with here today but that's nothing to what you folks are faced with.

I have been intending on expressing much the same sentiments. Those storms have been hammering the mid, southern and eastern states mercilessly. I hope all are ok and remain so. Alot of lives have been absolutely crushed in the last weeks and months. Our prayers are with all of you.

.. Winter Storm Warning remains in effect until 6 PM CST Sunday... A Winter Storm Warning remains in effect until 6 PM CST Sunday. Steady moderate snow will continue across the region through most of the daylight hours today. Some of the snow will be heavy at times... leading to accumulation rates of one inch per hour or slightly higher. Total snowfall accumulations by early this evening will be between 4 and 8 inches across the Winter Storm Warning area. An additional 1 to 2 inches is expected from late this evening through Sunday across the region. In addition to the snowfall... very strong northwest winds will spread gradually east across the remainder of the area by late this afternoon into tonight. This will likely result in reduced visibilities in blowing snow and will further make travel conditions hazardous into the nighttime hours and on Sunday. The northwest winds will steer in bitterly cold air with dangerous wind chills likely to develop again by Sunday morning and persist through at least the day if not into Sunday night. A Winter Storm Warning for heavy snow means severe winter weather conditions are expected or occurring. Significant amounts of snow along with blowing and drifting snow are forecast... which will make travel dangerous. Only travel if absolutely necessary. If you must travel... keep an extra flashlight... food... and water in your vehicle in case of an emergency. Pics to follow tomorrow if we can see due to the wind..blowing all this fluff every place..

Same same down this way! We've had around 8 inches of snow this week followed up by an ice storm that left 3/4" of ice on everything. Our wonderful county road department failed to plow our road so by the time the ice storm hit, the eight inches of snow was already packed down to 2 1/2 to 3 inches of ice! Nothing moving on our roads over 5 -10 mph and that ain't even a good idea! Oh yea, it's snowing again! ;D

Ken has to work tonight, but because of the winter storm, he is leaving early........like in about 10 minutes! It's 4:15Pmright now. Doesn't start work tonight until 11:00PM. He's staying in a "room" at the Sleep Center. Could someone please do something about all this snow that is dumping on us! This is just the start of winter! ;D This is a "replay" of last weekend!

Phil, if ya add it all up 6 maybe 8 inches for the whole winter and it melts within 24 hours most times. We got 8 inches out now with more on the way and it has ice under it A WINTER STORM WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 7 AM EST THURSDAY. * SNOW SHOWERS WILL BE LIKELY OVERNIGHT... WITH SNOW SHOWERS TAPERING OFF THURSDAY MORNING. * ON AVERAGE... ADDITIONAL SNOW ACCUMULATIONS OF 1 TO 3 INCHES ARE EXPECTED OVERNIGHT. STORM TOTAL SNOWFALL ACCUMULATIONS OF 6 TO 8 INCHES ARE EXPECTED... WITH 8 TO 11 INCHES ON THE HIGHER RIDGETOPS. * WEST WINDS OF 10 TO 15 MPH WILL CAUSE SOME BLOWING AND DRIFTING SNOW AT TIMES TONIGHT... POTENTIALLY CREATING HAZARDOUS DRIVING CONDITIONS. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... A WINTER STORM WARNING MEANS SIGNIFICANT AMOUNTS OF SNOW ARE EXPECTED OR OCCURRING. STRONG WINDS ARE ALSO POSSIBLE. THIS WILL MAKE TRAVEL VERY HAZARDOUS OR IMPOSSIBLE.

We had a snow storm last Tuesday and got 15"...I think it was last Tuesday.. losing track since it's been snowing everyday. Had a storm come through again yesterday and it's still snowing. Dumped another 6" on us. I feel for you folks who are not used to this much snow. There was a 40 car pileup down south in OH yesterday. Poor folks just don't know how to drive in it. Lucky the worst injury was a broken ankle. Stay warm, drive safe. COME ON SPRING!!!
