Its flipping cold here and snowing.....just a dusting overnight, but calling for some today!

We got another 12+ inches dumped on us between Saturday night and Sunday morning. Not the light, fluffy snow but the wet, HEAVY crap. Got an additional 4 inches between last night and this morning. The snowbank at the end of the driveway is over 6 ft. I'm ready for spring. Don't think we'll see it soon, as it's supposed to snow some more all weekend!!

Wow! We have had some nice days, not warm but nice. We are expecting rain(which will only make mud) but our daffodils are podded. Today we went on another hike. We will probably have more snow but at least we've had a nice break. Sorry you guys have so much cold and snow.

SO yesterday, I coulda went out and RE-RE-Removed the snow that drifted in from the day before
or take care of Laura who was feeling poorly...
so, today I have to do it...so, the snow fell sat. and sun....blew it out on Monday..just before it snowed again, Tuesday..blew it out again...yesterday, the winds drifted all I did back in...

so...cold and clear today...Snow...the next 3 days...
yep, tired of it...once a week getting out there isn't bad, even twice a week...everyday...not so much joy

We are still dealing with the white stuff on the ground. So they say more snow over the course of the next 7 days..5 out of them we could get more.
I am still not pheeling too chipper..
Good thing is the weekend is almost here. ;D

We are getting blasted once again with slop. So far, there seems to be about 5 inches of slushy crap, with no end till Wednesday morning. Wish it would just be snow instead of this... Better yet, I wish it were June.

Yesterday...rain was forecast...we received NONE...
Snow...yep, we were suppose to have 1-3" this morning...NONE...

It's been since early August since we have had any rain (measurable) and only enough to make spots on the dusty car...

Quick turn to dry weather helps, hurts farmland

Redwood County, Minn. — On farmland about halfway between the Twin Cities and Sioux Falls, Jeff Kodet and a backhoe operator are digging a trench nearly four feet deep.


They're looking for an old underground drainage pipe, but in the process are finding something rare in southern Minnesota: dry soil. When the region's clay soil contains even a little of moisture, it sticks to anything. Not now.

"The clay comes up just dry, almost dusty; doesn't even stick to your shoes," Kodet said.

Much of Minnesota has gone from too wet to too dry in recent months, as spring floods have given way to fall drought. The dry conditions have fueled forest fires in the north and farming problems in the south.

Near Kodet's farm in Redwood County, only an inch or so of rain has fallen in the last three months, about a tenth of the normal amount. That's produced severe drought conditions that make the flooding spring rains a distant memory.

Farmers have been able to harvest with the dry weather, but now they are waiting for moisture to plow because their equipment is turning up watermelon sized CHUNKS instead of friable soil and If the soil is very dry, there is not enough moisture to absorb their applied anhydrous

MAN! I had no idea it was that dry there Phil!

Here on the West Michigan lake shore we've got high winds, cool temps, and rain. Same for tomorrow except we may even get a little snow in there. My maple trees haven't even lost all their leaves yet (maybe 1/3?). I really don't want to rake in the snow. We'll see. I'm hopeful that the wind will take care of some of that tonight.

And it's still dry here Mike, we have had but a dusting of snow, no rain, measurable rain since August...from the forecasters corner...they say it may be mid January before we get ANY snow...it's weird, yet nice ...I don't mind NOT freezing ..

Chilly here today in the 30s (F). Got a very light dusting of snow last night. I'm waiting for the hammer to fall. I have a feeling we're gonna get pounded all at once at some point this winter. Oh well. Spring will be here before we know it.

Seasonal Drought Outlook

Looking ahead through the next couple of months, it appears that our drought situation will persist through the end of March. The other noticeable area that will have a persistent drought are those across Texas and the South Central Plains. These are areas that have been dealing with intense drought conditions for quite a while.

I'd be staying in ... Man thats cold!
