Heating oil is now $4 a gallon here. They tell us that gas prices rise on increased demand in spring. Why does the price of heating oil rise on DECREASED demand in spring? I do believe that the oil companies have us over the barrel. JT

Even oil you put in your car is going up since all that comes from the same place cost about $12-$14 just for one gallon of oil.

$399.9 today in Possum Junction, IN. Be prepared for it to continue to go up. I see it being close to $5.00 per gallon by July 4.

I'm with northerdigger...I'm going to go looking for a bike...
My electricity bill has taken a hike recently...no change on our part...can't figure how that's connected to gas but wouldn't be surprised if it is...inflation everywhere...

What's truly obsurd over this whole thing is the political pandering from both sides of the aisle suggesting temporary fixes. What we need is true statesmen willing to take honest looks at the situation, rather than playing politics with people's frustrations over these high gas prices. The government needs to study this matter seriously, and be willing to look at avenues that might mean people making sacrifices and be inconvenienced, but I don't see that happening. Instead they propose absurd things such as gas tax holidays. Any economics 101 student can tell if you cut the price, you increase demand. That means you tighten the market. Then the price goes back up. It goes to oil companies. The last thing we need to be doing is encouraging more consumption.

Gas went down to $3.85 from $3.92. Over the holiday weekend, People here, were talking that our little town was the highest for gas in Minnesota. Doesn't mean it it will go any lower though

Well I went from $10 to $12, some weren't real happy but all went with it. I am still making money, working seven days a week and can barely do all the work but I figure just driving round the few blocks in this town and filling my two and a half gallon can repeatedly I'm spending round $200 plus for gas a month. But one on S.S. told me if it goes up much more she can't afford the yardwork and everyone is just about freaking bout gas prices in general as we all are of course. I like to look at it like when I need some gas I'll say "oh yea I got that twenty dollar job to do so there's another 2-3 days of gas". See Psychology is good for something lol. And you are absolutely right Phil, someone somewhere is keeping all the good parts of tech from us for the money,,,,,,,,,,,,,go figure.

Very good one nd ! There are even more true stories than those. In fact , I've seen a couple of different ones working , but , they were "buried". Here's a couple of "the rest of the stories" y'all might enjoy. C.N. (Charles Nelson) Pogue did indeed have a system that delivered 200 MPG with a flat head 8 (That's all they had in the 1930's). Most of the stories about him say that he had the plans , but never built a working model. And he died broke. Not True ! In fact , during WWII , his brother helped the military build & install a "Super Carb" that was instrumental in defeating Rommel in Africa. And , after the war , he admitted that his brother was keeping a low profile with millions of $$$ that came from "somewhere". Also his system and approach doesn't work with today's gas because of certain additives that have been put in gasoline since after WWII. HHHHMMMM. As far as the "Fish Carb" , the original one did produce more power and better mileage. The one that can be purchased now , isn't exactly the same. I have one. It does produce a little more MPG and more power , but , there are some serious cold weather problems. And , some of them that have been sold , have a major defect in the carb throat due to a mold flaw. Here's one "they" can't take away or block the useage of : Water injection ! A simple , cheap , and helpful one can be easily made and installed. Water can be "sucked" into the fuel mixture by utilizing the engine vacuum. Just be sure that the reservoir is installed BELOW the point of introduction. Otherwise a syphon effect could cause damage when the engine is off. This simple home-made unit will give you a small increase in mileage and power. And keep the amount of water sucked in to a minimum. Too much can cause problems also. A simple , manual valve can be used to control the mixture. And , here is the best gas additive I've ever found. Mix-I-Go made by Bell Additives , Inc. You add 1 ounce to each 10 gallons of regular unleaded gas and it will outperform Supreme gas. I use it and consistantly get cost effective increases in both mileage and power. If I don't "over-use" the extra power , the mileage gains are even better......DUH...... Bell has an aviation grade additive that works even better. But , it's gotten so expensive that the cost effectiveness is questionable. Ford Motor Co. used to add Mix-I-Go to all of the gas vehicles before they were shipped to dealers a long time ago. That's one reason that Fords seemed to have more power than the "other guys". They actually did because of this additive. I treat all my gas with this stuff. It even makes my lawn mower run better ! But , I can't "measure" the mileage on it....
