I'm fortunate, I have some land where morel mushrooms grow in the early spring.

Yea bro, I would love to see your setup as well I would love to have a lunch bag full of them Morels for breakfast this morning Use to pick them at Grandmas house around her half dead apple trees even thou my dad had a better eye for finding them.

Well I'm not growing morels, But I do know where to pick a bunch whene the time comes. Don't know if I can get you a lunch bag full, Doug, but with some luck, you'll have some on your way. Dads farm has a mess of good spots! Which shooms did you pick? the blacks, browns or golds?

They say the morels are evrywhere in this area, I beg to differ, heck, about the time the lilacs start budding in Mo. I know many places where you can pick them till yer tired of bending down. Nothing in my book is a better tasting mushroom than a morel, I don't mean they all ain't good, cause I never met a Fungi I didn't like.

Huh, me neither, those fungi are awsome. I love em the wife don't. Well Pharmer, maybee you've just got that eye thing I get sometimes, can't see em till you've triped over them. I'm always happy when I get the old Eagle eye back though! LOL

We have found the brown kind and have found some that were Grey in color at times but had to soak them in salt water to drive out the insect She had them popping up in her back yard by the picnic table. She was located in Stockbridge out of town not far from where I'm at.

Stockbridge is not too far from here either. We just live in a good shroomin place. I collect the big tans(golds) on the outer limits of a large pine stand.

I even found some growing in wood chips at times, might be a good year for them if we have warm nights this spring

Well heres an up date: I have two "logs" formed in pint jars holding them selves togather. Two quart jars that I emptyed into the "grow box" Things are going well for my first try. Have grown kits before, these at least smell the same Gonna post pics realll soon, sisinlaw is gonna help me ,if she fails its up to our natorious leader the Pharmer to help this DA out.

Went to TSC this morning and got 100# hardwood heating pelets only $9 for my next attempt. I'm lookin at a site that uses peroxide for steralization , and hard wood pelets for growing medium. I'll kep ya posted.

Hopefuly I'll be able to produce enough to sell at a couple of naturl foods stores, here localy. And if it goes real well I'll try selling to resturants. Gotta keep experimenting and reading and learning.

Well the shroom growing week is off to a bad start. I've found the dreaded green mold on the two "logs" I have going! UUGGHHH! Gonna have to start over again. I've orderd a book this morning, I think I'm gonna wait till I read this book on useing hydrogen peroxide to sterilize my substraights. I'll keep ya'll posted.

Got a new book thanx to TennOC's web site referance on pg 2 oph this thread. It is the hydrogen proxide method, from a quick scan over the material, I'll post all ocorances in my ummm attempt.

Got confermation on my new culture is beeing shiped But the new scale wont be here till next week. UGHH! nedded to get the old one recalibrated, but a new one was $20 cheaper Got to be real accurate when you make the agar medium to get em started in.
